Description:

Perform civil engineering duties in the design and construction of public schools, Community Colleges, and Municipal and City and Country facilities behalf of general contractor builder. Ensures that construction projects are scheduled and built in accordance with plans and specifications. Provides technical advice to clients regarding design and construction. Prepares and oversees detailed project budgets, project and construction schedules, scope definition and provides contract administration and oversight of architects, engineers, geotechnical firms, surveyors, CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) consultants, hazmat consultants and other professional services as required during project planning. Prepares reports and presentations to school district administrative personnel and school board of trustees. Oversees and manages drawing reviews, construction estimating, construction scheduling, contract documents, contractor bidding, contract procurement and administers construction contracts and closeout. Analyzes engineering calculations to ensure the safety of temporary structures used during construction. Coordinates with school staff, Division of the State Architect (DSA) inspectors & testing firms, and the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). Conducts project meetings, contract modifications, construction engineering problem solving, problem resolution, value engineering. Oversees staff performing cost tracking, forecasting, reporting and construction documentation. Responsible for ensuring projects are to DSA specific quality, completed on time and completed on budget. Participates in the development and implementation of company goals, objectives, policies and procedures.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or Management, or Environmental Engineering field, plus 2 years as civil engineer on facilities and construction related projects.

Must include 1 year experience on projects requiring the Division of the State Architect (DSA) jurisdiction; and 1 year experience utilizing the Plan Grid construction platform.

Job Location/Travel Requirements:

Based out of RGM Kramer’s Silicon Valley regional office located at 4020 Moorpark Avenue, Suite 220, San Jose, CA 95117. Expect 10% of work time will be spent traveling between project sites, consultant offices, regional office and company headquarters. Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle.
